60 m² teak deck rebuilt from scratch, Saint-Martin

A 60 m² teak deck on a motor yacht laid up in Saint-Martin, in the Caribbean. The owner called us in for a deck at the end of its life: grey, worn down to the fixings, caulking blown out and planks splitting open. Sanding was no longer an option, there was not enough timber left to save.

We removed the entire deck and rebuilt it from scratch, from the aft platform and its curved steps to the cockpit, the side decks and the foredeck. New planks were bonded one at a time, taped and weighted while the adhesive cured, then every seam was over-filled, razored off and sanded flush. Bonding and caulking use Teakdecking Systems products.

The detail is in the edges. Margin boards are shaped to the curves of the superstructure, hatch surrounds are mitred and inlaid, and the planking runs continuous across the hatch lids so they disappear into the deck. The curved steps carry the same language down to the swim platform.

Delivered in August 2026. A project led far from our Mediterranean workshops, with a team mobilised on site: the way we work on every international refit.

The correct intervention starts with the correct diagnosis.

Send us photographs, the vessel length, approximate deck area, location and known history of the deck. We will tell you whether the next step should be a remote review, an on-board survey or a detailed quotation.
